Yours for $17 million: madoff’s manhattan penthouse

The penthouse, located on East 64th Street, overlooks Central Park and boasts a whopping 4,000 square feet of living space. Built in 1984, it features 11ft high ceilings and Palladian windows, not to mention three bedrooms, a library and a wraparound terrace.
It is, in other words, exactly the kind of home you would expect to be owned by a billion-dollar businessman - until said businessman is caught for running a large pyramid scam that earned him over $17 billion.
Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison and was forced to forfeit millions of dollars of assets, ranging from his Manhattan duplex to a yacht, jewellery, clothes and other homes in Florida and New York.
Several years later, the couple who now live in the home have placed it back on the market in the hope of finding their own goldmine, reports The Daily Mail. Their asking price for the $8 million penthouse? $17 million, earning themselves a tidy profit of $9 million.
It is almost enough to make you feel cheated.
