Chinese arrivals to phuket increased by 41pc

Chinese arrivals to Phuket increased by 41 per cent in the final quarter of 2014.

Occupancy of upscale hotels (those with average daily room rates  between THB 2,000 and THB 10,000) increased slightly from the same period last year by 0.9 percentage points to around 70 per cent, according to CBRE.

Despite the rise in occupancy, though, the Average Daily Rate (ADR) of upscale hotels in Q4 dropped compared to the same period last year. As a result, revenue per available room also dipped 5 per cent year-on-year.

Total hotel supply is expected to increase by around 22 per cent by the end of 2018, forecasts CBRE.
