Phuket in thailand most searched-for destination

Phuket in Thailand was the most searched-for destination for this year's Chinese Moon Festival Holiday.

Thailand’s largest island, which is located approximately 852 kilometres south of Bangkok, is a popular location for tourists thanks to its naturally beautiful beaches. The Chinese International Travel Monitor (CITM), by www.hotels.com, found that online searches for Phuket jumped 26 per cent for the Moon Festival Holiday period, which runs from 6th to 8th September.

Phuket was one of nine Asian destinations in the top 10, including Seoul, South Korea and Taipei.

Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, comments: "This great news also comes at an opportune time when Thailand is now offering a tourist visa fee waiver for holders of Chinese and Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) passports for three months from 9 August to 8 November, 2014. Chinese travellers planning to visit Thailand during this three-month period can make use of this wonderful scheme to come to enjoy a wide variety of tourist attractions, famous Thai food and shopping opportunities, especially in Phuket."
