Anz bank on the move

ANZ Bank will begin moving staff into its Docklands site in Melbourne October, and move its headquarters in early 2010...

The building at 833 Collins Street will house 6500 staff by January 2010 and serve as the bank's registered office, ANZ said in a statement today.

ANZ, saddled by rising bad debts and a slowing economy, said it would benefit by reducing the number of Melbourne properties it holds.

"When ANZ Centre is completed, the bank will be able to reduce the number of commercial properties it holds in Melbourne from 13 to eight," said ANZ Group General Manager Property Jane Hamilton in a statement.
