The Century Spire has broken ground this week in Metro Manila. The 60-storey tower, designed by Daniel Libeskind, is described by the architect as "a key addition to the landscape of the 3.4-hectare Century City, a master-planned community of branded residential towers, a modern mall, and soon, an IT-medical arts building".

The building is a glass-clad high-rise tower that "expands with a dramatic crown" and is scheduled for completion in 2018.

Others have been less favourable in their reactions, with one blogger at Curbed describing it as "an industrial shredding device that had somehow mated with a Norelco Beard Trimmer".
