Disneyland tops list of facebook check-in locations

Facebook has announced the top 25 locations with the most check-ins by Facebook users around the world. Dominating the list is Disneyland, with four of the top 25 locations checked-in to by Facebook users made up of Mickey Mouse's signature theme parks.

Indeed, Disneyland Tokyo, Disneyland Hong Kong, Disneyland Paris and Disneyland California were all popular destinations among visitors using Facebook. The list, which excludes transport hubs such as airports, also include familiar tourist landmarks, from The Blue Lagoon in Iceland and Venice's St. Mark's Square to the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, which has remained a popular investment hotspot despite unrest in the country this year.

The list also included the Reeperbahn in Hamburg, a well-known part of the city's red-light district. Quartz attributes the display of seedy activity to Facebook friends to The Beatles, who played clubs in the area during the early stages of their career.
