Sculpture by the sea hits perth
Over 60 local, interstate and international artists will transform Cottesloe, Perth's most popular beach into a stunning sculpture park during March...
With everything from giant pencils and watches, to polos and an oversized plug, this striking exhibition is the brainchild of David Handley. "Essentially the exhibition came from my wish to create a major free public arts event for Sydney.
"Pretty much straight away I thought there was a need for an accessible visual arts event in Sydney but the ‘what and where' took some time to nut out especially as I did not have a visual arts background."
The fifth annual Sculpture by the Sea will be staged on Cottesloe Beach from 5th to 24th March 2009.
"In 2005 we launched Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe, held annually at Cottesloe Beach, Perth on Australia's Indian Ocean coastal. With its sunsets, long horizon and the gorgeous pocket of beach near Indiana Tea House it's a wonderful location," explains Handley.
The 13th annual Sculpture by the Sea Bondi exhibition will be held from the 29th October to 15th November 2009 along the two kilometre Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk.
