Meet new york's new sushi hotel
Yotel is opening a new hotel in New York. The building, located in Williamsburg - on Lorimer Street and Meeker Avenue - will have 110 rooms, including six to eight condos at the top with views of the East River and Manhattan.
The most exciting part of the new development? Its similarity to a certain Japanese cuisine.
Yotel is, of course, part of the YO! Company, which is best known for its sushi restaurants around the world. It is only fitting, therefore, that its latest entry in a chain of Japanese-style hotels should look like sushi.
Sitting on top of the rice will be a roof garden, while the seaweed exterior will also contain several retail units.
"Williamsburg is an amazing community — it deserves architecture that strives to match its richness and vibrancy,” Marc Kushner, principal at the project's designers, HWKN, told The Real Deal.
"We felt it was important to create a distinct and modern design that would establish Yotel Williamsburg as a destination for global travelers, while the sculptural qualities of the building also connects with Williamsburg’s artistic bent," added his colleague, Matthias Hollwich.
