Clickair cuts flights to spain
As the airline reviews its routes flights from London to Valencia are among those axed due to low passenger numbers...
Clickair is cancelling flights from London Heathrow to Valencia, Spain, as of October 28th when it starts its winter schedule.
According to reports on Kyero.com Clickair said the decision was down to "disappointing passenger numbers".
The airline will also be switching its Bilbao flights from London Gatwick to Heathrow and will continue to offer flights from Heathrow to La Coruña in north west Spain.
Another casualty is the route from London Gatwick to Vigo, which will also be terminated at the end of October but will be reviewed again at the start of the summer schedule. Meanwhile, the Gatwick to Seville route will continue four times a week.
Spain's competition commission is expected to decide shortly whether the proposed merger between Clickair and European low-cost rival Vueling can go ahead, or whether it proposes a threat to domestic competition.
Iberia, which controls 80 per cent of unlisted Clickair, would be a major shareholder in the new airline, together with Nefinsa and Inversiones Hemisferio.
The two airlines said the merger would make them better equipped to tackle stiff competition and high fuel costs. If approved it would take place next summer.
