Billions invested in south africa’s renewable energy programme

Renewable energy remains a popular alternative investment for those seeking to help to the environment as well as their wallets. In South Africa, a procurement programme has experienced the growth of the renewable sector first-hand, with billions of rand in foreign direct investment placed into the programme.

“The programme has, to date, attracted over R150 billion in foreign direct investment,” Energy Minister Ben Martins told the press in a speech at Pretoria.

“This bodes well for South Africa, as the programme has received international acclaim for fairness, transparency and the certainty of this programme.”
