Celebrity homes: picasso home up for sale

The villa, called Mas de Notre-Dame du Vie, boasts an impressive 35 rooms, including 10 bedrooms and eight bedrooms, not to mention two swimming pools, a tennis court and a guest house.

It was bought by a Belgian art dealer in 2008 for an estimated fee of between €10 million and €12 million.

“Total discretion surrounding the identity of the new owner,” reported Nice Matin at the time, who noted that he would also have to pay a substantial amount of money to restore all of the property to its former glory.

Rumours at the time said the dealer would “seek to retain the soul” of the house.

What that means exactly is unclear, but the property may well include Pablo’s actual soul: what else would explain the home’s new exorbitant price tag?

The amount the dealer is asking for the villa: $220 million.

As Curbed sums it up, “that price is $20M more than any American property was trying for last year”.

The value may not be enough to deter a buyer, though: the listing has already been taken down from its website, suggesting that someone had no problem coughing up the sum.
