Dr offering 'astonishing' yields

Property in the Dominican Republic is offering rental yields found rarely elsewhere, a leading expert has claimed...

According to Liam Bailey, chief marketing analyst for propertyabroad.com, the Caribbean Island is not only the most affordable area in the region, but potentially the most lucrative.

He commented that foreign investors have flooded to the island paradise since the summer of 2008 on the back of a boom in overseas tourism to the country.

Mr Bailey said: "Even before that the Dominican Republic's popularity with overseas investors and property buyers was exploding.

"Because of ... growing tourism, and the abundance of bargain properties all making astonishing rental yields the prices of off-plan Dominican Republic property have grown by 25 per cent to 100 per cent in the last year."

Figures from the Central Bank of Dominican Republic show that 3.5 million tourists visited the island last year.
