Cape verde 'has two tourism markets'
The Cape Verde property market will gain when the country's tourist department manages to convey the fact that it has a varied tourist scene...
Proprietor of Cape Verde Travel
Ron Hughes said there is "confusion" in the perception of the
islands, with some seeing them as a beach holiday haven and others being
attracted by eco-tourism, without it being made clear enough that the archipelago
offers both.
He stated, "The styles of tourism are extremely varied from the classic
European all-inclusive resorts, to that of the ecotourism found on the other
side of the islands."
However, Mr Hughes noted, European tourism is on the rise and the number of
airline flights there is still increasing.
Such trends may encourage overseas property investors.
Examples of tourist activities that contrast with what is on offer at the
seaside include the chance to ascend Mount
Fogo, the active volcano
that is the highest point on the islands at 2,829 metres.
