Overseas property news - Spanish castle goes under the hammer

Spanish castle goes under the hammer

Spain's Butrón Castle has been placed under the hammer this month. The stunning building, which was built in the 13th century, has been put up for auction online, a move that is expected to drive up interest and, ultimately, the final bid.

The starting price is already too high for casual eBayers, though: the asking price began at €3.5 million.

Butrón Castle - located 19km from Bilbao and owned by INBISA - is one of the symbols of Bizkaia and has been recognized as a protected heritage building. It has a built surface of over 2,400 square metres and is located in a privileged environment with a park of over 35,000m2.

"The unique nature and importance of this property - the only Romantic castle on sale in Spain - make it particularly attractive to investment funds or private investors," says BNP Paribas Real Estate, who are handling the auction.
