Albanian resort sells 80pc of apartments

Several years ago, the region’s tourism industry had been all but destroyed, but since 2009, when Albania joined NATO, it has enjoyed a rising profile among holidaymakers. The Lalzit Bay Resort & Spa, located on the Adriatic coast near the the capital Tirana and international airport, has seen the emerging market fully appear on the global scene.

Three years on from its launch, the team - led by chartered marketer-turneed-Marketing Director Peter Walshe – reports that over 80 per cent of phase one apartments have now been sold off-plan to buyers from all over the world.

Walshe comments: "Admittedly the recession has made investors more cautious about buying second homes but I think this is true across the board in all holiday home destinations and actually we prefer our buyers to take their time and only purchase when they hold 100% belief in both Albania and Lalzit Bay. Many people said it was mad to take on this project, but here we are, 3 years later and the off-plan sales figures speak for themselves. We're now getting ready to hand-over our first 40 units, and the first villa show home is under construction."
