"where is disneyland?": most searched travel questions on google in 2015
Americans do not know where Disneyland is, according to Google's round-up of the year's most-searched travel questions.
The search engine's annual Year in Search report has been published, listing the most commonly entered terms for the whole of 2015. Along with news, recipes, GIFs and monthly topics, the report also highlights the most asked travel queries by US users.
"What to Pack for Cancun?" was the most asked question by Americans, followed by "Where is Disneyland?", which suggests that a large number of tourists visited, or booked a visit to, Cancun this year, and that a sizeable portion of the population do not know where Disneyland is.
"What airport is ORD?", "When is whale watching season in San Diego?" and "What is a boutique hotel?" completed the Top 10, along with questions of what do in St. Louis (sixth), Missoula, MT (seventh), Louisiana (eighth), Albuquerque (ninth). US tourists also wanted to know "Where is Yellowstone National Park?" (10th).
Google has also released the list of the most-searched holiday destinations by British tourists. New York was top of the list, followed by the USA, while Australia came third. Spain, the perennial holiday home favourite, was fourth, followed by Cornwall. The Top 10 was completed by Dubai, Italy, Amsterdam, Greece and Tenerife, suggesting that while UK vacationers were looking to glamourous, far-flung destinations such as the UAE, the weak euro boosted interest in even the most financially troubled countries to find a bargain getaway.
