Dubai: the best place to live in the world
The agency’s latest Global Lifestyle Review compared destinations around the world, ranking the 23 locations on factors including the levels of sunshine, proximity to an airport and the number of international schools in the area.
Dubai came out on top, offering the best lifestyle to wealthy property buyers. The emirate’s high score was thanks to a high number of international schools and leisure pursuits, as well as sunshine all year round.
The Cayman Islands, Mallorca and Geneva all came joint second in the charts, scoring equally well across the 10 different categories.
Knight Frank describes the report as “a guide for wealthy individuals considering the lifestyle element of a potential location alongside the recommendations of their wealth management and/or tax advisors”.
Indeed, tax havens such as Monaco performed relatively poorly in the survey, ranking in 10th place alongside Madrid and Moscow. The Swiss town of Zug also performed worse than might be expected, with its lifestyle appeal failing to match its popular status among investors as a tax haven.
London and Hong Kong were hot on the heels of Geneva in fourth place thanks a strong education system and a healthy supply of Michelin-starred restaurants.
