Federer vs djokovic: tennis player property face-off
London’s O2 arena prepares for a clash of the tennis titans this evening, as the ATP World Tour Finals Sees the six-time winner of the tournament and sporting legend Roger Federer face off against the current world number one Novak Djokovic.
“From my point of view he hasn’t been moving as well this year as he did the year before and that’s one of the reasons why he hasn’t had much success this year,” Djokovic said of his opponent ahead of their encounter.
Indeed, while Roger Federer has won 17 Grand Slam titles in his career, he is no spring chicken and has had to make way for younger rivals, such as Andy Murray and the Serbian Novak, who now dominate the list of winners.
But on the court is one thing: where it really matters is off the court. In the land of real estate, which tennis player’s property takes home the trophy?

Roger Federer’s real estate collection is almost as impressive as his trophy cabinet. He already owns a terrace apartment in Wollerau and two chalets in Valbella, one of which houses his parents. Two years ago, though, Federer and his wife, Mirka, snapped another impressive opportunity up: a plot of land overlooking Lake Zurich. Last month, the couple appeared to make steps to building a new home on the land, with one real estate blog unearthing the possible plans for a stunning building.
If built, the estate will boast a swimming pool, several terraces with glass rails, and a private tennis court. The cost of the land? 29 million Swiss Francs. The cost of developing the new home? Unknown.

If Roger Federer’s real estate plans appear somewhat secretive, Novak Djokovic’s are invisible. The Serbian star lives in Monte Carlo, but no further details have ever been made public about his home.
His commercial real estate portfolio, though, is far more well-known. The restaurant, Novak’s, located in the Serbian capital of Belgrade is a trendy establishment with reasonable prices, an up-market clientele and a lot of tennis-themed decor, mostly involving photos and videos of him winning Wimbledon. By the side of the door? A six-foot statue of himself as a terracotta warrior.
The restaurant achieved worldwide fame last year, when it became apparent that Novak was in the process of buying up the entire world’s supply of donkey cheese. Known as “pule” and found only in the Balkans, Djokovic’s agricultural investment seemed almost as bizarre as the self-styled statue.
Speaking to the press in Abu Dhabi, though, the tennis player clarified a few details:
“There is a certain farm in Serbia that produces this donkey cheese and, as I understand it, it is the only farm in the world, which is very interesting. They came to our restaurant and they offered the operation.
"We are now thinking and seeing what we can do with that. But it is not true that I bought the whole supply. But if I do, I will definitely send you some cheese to try."
Either way, with the world media picking up every drop of donkey milk news, Novak’s restaurant investment looks like it could well pay off.
