James Aitkin, director of property broker Quinta Sales, commented: “New properties in that part of the world have the highest standard of construction I’ve ever seen. Furthermore, there is currently huge demand for rental properties in that part of the world, with demand outstripping supply of decent homes”.

Mr Aitken continued: ”Older buildings can be lovely and quaint but will cost more in terms of maintenance and generate less income. The newer properties are more popular because they have more features and are better built," he added.

”My advice for would-be investors is that they gain the opinion of an independent valuer when considering a property”.
