Russian billionaire confirms details of donald trump mansion purchase
The house on Palm Beach went to Dmitri Rybolovlev the sum of $95 million. Rybolovlev revealed the details of his transaction at a deposition in London this month. The lawyer said that the billionaire still pays taxes and upkeep expenses for the mansion but insisted that Dmitri does not own the house.
He originally described the 2008 deal as “an investment in real estate by one of the companies in which I have an interest”, before saying in documents for Palm Beach County Circuit Court that he did not own the mansion “either directly or indirectly”.
“Somebody paid me $100 million,” Trump told The Palm Beach Post at the time.
The Russian non-buyer has denied having an interest in the trust or company that own the property.
The questions were asked by lawyers representing Dmitri’s wife, Elena, who is seeking half of the home’s value as part of a divorce.
