The famous funny man, amusing movie star and award-winning banjo player saw his career skyrocket in the 1970s when he jumped from stand-up to the big screen, working with everyone from Robin Williams to Michael Caine and Eddie Murphy. In real life, he had another reason to keep smiling: Villa Au Soleil, his Caribbean getaway.

The colonial-style property is fully furnished and boasts four bedrooms, an open-plan living room, a two-tier infinity pool, tropical gardens and panoramic views of the sea from almost any window you care to mention.

Martin bought the tropical paradise in 2008, reports The Telegraph, hosting celebrity guests and relaxing in between playwriting bluegrass gigs.

“Often he has been spotted bodyboarding in the waves at Saline Beach, or walking around the bistros and boutiques of Gustavia,” Tom Smyth of Sotheby’s International Realty tells the newspaper.

“St Barts is one of my favourite places in the world,” the 68 year old added. “Myself and my family have had a fantastic few years at the villa. The views are second to none, and the sun deck, terraces and swimming pool have been a great retreat to come and relax between filming. We will be sad to say goodbye.”

The price to live like Steve Martin? $10.5 million.
