Romania: new hotspot?
Romania is an increasingly popular destination for UK
holidaymakers, according to new statistics...
Vehicle rental company easyCar.com
reports that the number of rentals it organises in the country has risen by 540
per cent over the past year - the largest increase in any European nation.
The firm conducted a survey which found that 45 per cent of people are not
putting their holiday plans on hold, despite the economic downturn.
Instead, many holidaymakers are opting for more budget-friendly destinations in
Eastern Europe, such as Romania.
"While the credit crunch is indeed causing people to think more about how
they are spending, it's not dampening the nation's holiday spirit,"
commented Bill Jones, Chief Executive Officer of easyCar.com.
"Instead of seeing customers stall their plans to go away, they're opting
for locations that will make their money go further."
The Guardian
travel blog recently identified Romania's
Carpathian Mountains as a tourist attraction
which is set to attract more visitors in the next few years.
