Bulgaria braced for easter influx

A town in Bulgaria is preparing itself for a huge influx of tourists this weekend…

The mountain resort town of Sandanski in Southwest Bulgaria is welcoming over 10 000 foreign tourists for the Easter holidays, claims the town’s Mayor, Anton Totev, who added: "Our foreign guests are primarily from Russia, Ireland, and Greece, who will enjoy foreign visiting the Sandanski Archeological Museum, the Rupite area in the Kozhuh Mountain where the famous Bulgarian clairvoyant Vanga lived, the Rozhen Monastery, and the town of Melnik, which is famous for its unique architecture, and for its wines”

Meanwhile, the first mall was opened in the resort town of Sandanski on Friday. The mall has five floors and 51 stores, and costs a total of BGN 14 M. It is owned by Sandanski Property, who are also going to invest in the construction of the first condominium hotel on the Balkan Peninsula, which is also going to be built in Sandanski, and is planned to have 5 floors and 611 apartments.

The town of Sandanski has about 30 000 inhabitants. It is named after the Bulgarian revolutionary from Macedonia Yane Sandanski (1872-1915).
