Time to kill

Changi Airport's popular Free City Shuttle (FCS), taking transit passengers by bus to the city and a free sightseeing tour, has been relaunched with a new Transit Singapore Passport (TSP)...

Any passenger with more than five hours between flights in Changi terminals 1, 2 or 3 is eligible for the passport which provides discounted offers on everything from city tours to top attractions.

More than five million airline passengers spend transit time in Changi Airport each year, said Chooi Yee Choong, Oceania regional director for the Singapore Tourism Board.

The FCS offers the opportunity for them to escape the confines of the terminal and be swept up in the excitement of Singapore.

The service operates a total of nine regular, two-way services from the airport to some of Singapore's key attractions and shopping hotspots including lively Little India, Suntec City and the Singapore Flyer observation wheel.

Passengers can hop off and back on the bus at the destination of their choice.

A licensed tour guide on board the FSC provides commentary, while a tour attendant is available at each drop-off location to advise passengers of the key activities and sights in each area.

The first two runs of the day take passengers from the airport through Marina Bay to the Singapore Flyer and Little India before returning to the airport; while the remaining runs exchange the Little India stop for Suntec City.

Attractions include a free one-hour FunVee open-top bus city sightseeing tour, free use of internet facilities at the Tourist and Transit Hub at the Singapore Flyer and 15 per cent discounts on the Flyer and on Captain Explorer amphibian vehicle tours of the harbour.

Transit passengers can register for the shuttle in Terminals 2 and 3 at a counter in the Arrival Hall.

When returning to the airport, the dropoff point is the Terminal 2 Departure Hall.
