Europe rules the world…again

Quality of life in European cities is once again the best in the world, according to a new survey…

European cities have dominated Mercer’s annual worldwide quality of living rankings, with Zurich retaining its 2007 title as the highest ranked city, followed jointly by Vienna (2), Geneva (2), then Vancouver (4) and Auckland (5).

Germany also had three cities in the top 10 with Dusseldorf at number 6 and Munich and Frankfurt both at number 7. Prague was at number 71 the highest-ranking Eastern European city and Minsk in Belarus the lowest ranking European city at number 183.

Mercer spokesman Rob Knox commented:  “Europe dominates the list in terms of infrastructure, health and political stability”

Austria and Switzerland may come top of this particular group but the chances of the two countries emulating that feat in their respective Euro 2008 groups seems pretty slim at the moment! Still, visiting football fans will get a small taste of the exceptional quality of life on offer, made possible by superb infrastructure, clean cities, beautiful landscapes and great choice of sports and leisure activities for all tastes and needs. Who knows, some fans might be even be inspired to invest...
