New swiss cable car connects ski resorts

With a warm snap currently affecting much of the snow conditions in the Eastern Alps, access to high altitude pistes has never been more important for Swiss property hunters.

They don't come much higher than the Val D'Anniviers and the long-awaited Grimentz-Zinal cable car is now open for business creating one of Switzerland's most desirable, high-altitude, ski areas.

The 3.5km cable car, supported by just three pylons, is now the 3rd longest cableway in Switzerland. It has bought together two of Switzerland's most desirable ski domains in a journey time of just 7 minutes and 20 seconds. The two cabins each take 125 people, giving an hourly uplift capacity of 825.

The opening of the cable car has attracted some canny property hunters, according to agents, with buyers attracted by the relatively affordable property in Grimentz, where detached chalets can still be found for under CHF 1m.

Mark Warner Property's Giles Gale comments: “We have seen enquiries for property in the area up by over 100% this year as property hunters now see Grimentz as a real alternative to the Four Valleys.”
