French residents take against social housing plans
Some French residents are reportedly displeased about the government's plans to build more social housing in Paris.
A €1 billion initiative announced by the government earlier this year aims to reduce the number of ethnic ghettoes in the French capital, but some residents in middle-class areas are "appalled" at the proposal to force reluctant officials to build more council flats in order to comply with a 2000 law that requires all towns to have at least 25 per cent low-cost housing.
