Italian property to cost less thanks to lower land registry charges

While many countries are rising charges, Italian authorities have decided to reduce the fees, which means that if you purchase a primary property from a private seller you will save €1,260 for every €100,000 spent.
"I think this is the only country in Europe that can boast lower rather than higher charges!" says Linda Travella of Casa Travella.
"If you are buying a second home you will save €900 in every €100,000," she adds.
The agent argues that now is the ideal time to take advantage of the lower costs, as low prices begin to show signs of climbing in the major hotspots. She adds that there is no inheritance tax in Italy as well, if you leave your property to a close relation.
