Google invest $75m in wind farm
Google are investing another $75 million in green energy this year.
The search engine company, based in California, has announced an agreement to invest $75 million in the Panhandle 2 wind farm in Carson County, near Amarillo, Texas.
Pattern Energy Group LP's site is expected to have the energy capacity to power 56,000 homes and is scheduled to operate late 2014. The deal signals an increasing belief from the company that alternative energy will prove profitable as the sector benefits from growing demand for cleaner sources of power.
This is the 15th time Google has invested in renewable energy, notes Mercury News, and the second time it has put money into a Texas-based initiative.
