1 in 10 hong kong homes to be built by chinese developers
1 in 10 Hong Kong homes could be built by mainland Chinese developers in the coming years, predicts JLL.
The firm's latest research highlights China's role in driving Hong Kong's market, forecasting that up to 8 per cent of new residential homes constructed in the next three years could be accounted for by mainland builders.
"We expect mainland developers will continue to expand in the city. Hong Kong’s traditional developers are still expected to dominate the market but will face increasing competition in acquiring residential plots from a larger pool of bidders," Denis Ma, head of research at JLL, tells SCMP.
With around 119,000 new households set to be formed by 2019, that equates to one in 10 families opting for new homes built by mainland developers.
