The "ugliest damn building in new jersey"?

The building is certainly striking from the outside. The complex was originally intended to be a large entertainment complex, boasting everything from mini golf and a cinema to a ferris wheel and even an indoor ski slope. Things snowballed out of control, though, when the financial crisis struck in 2009 and the financier - a subsidiary of the Lehman Brothers - called a halt to construction.

It was then picked up by Mall of America's owner Triple Five Group, who intend to complete the building in 2016. This weekend, though, as the sporting world turns its eyes upon New Jersey, it will behold the spectacle of this gargantuan building site, which, 10 years after it broke ground, is still no nearer finishing.

The project is 80 per cent complete, according to reports at the time.

"That figure was scaled back a bit in 2010, when the Eastern wall and part of the roof collapsed due to snow and ice," notes Curbed.

The name of the "ugliest damn building in New Jersey"? The American Dream.
