Blue diamond auction sets price-per-carat record

A blue diamond sold at an auction in the US has set a new price-per-carat record.

The near 10-Carat diamond was bought by a Hong Kong buyer for $32.6 million, a record-breaking sum that emphasises how high demand for gems has become, particularly from Chinese buyers.
